INCIDENT AT OGLALA”-The Leonard Peltier Story” on September 7th
 |
In 1975, in a true incident, two FBI agents were killed in a gun battle that erupted on a reservation in Oglala, South Dakota. Leonard Peltier, a member of AIM (the American Indian Movement) was convicted of the murders. However, existing evidence suggests that Peltier did not commit the crimes, and that his arrest may have been politically motivated. Narrated by Robert Redford, the film makes a strong case that Peltier should at least receive another trial. It also reconstructs the chaotic time before the incident, when division between two factions on the reservation created an atmosphere of sheer terror. |

UPDATE on FASTING GROUP:
Join the Climate Emergency Fast, sponsored by Ted Glick, Us Climate Emergency Council
For years I've been a coordinator and participant in fasts calling for Leonard's release. This fall I'll be starting a fast in early September, a Climate Emergency Fast, as part of the mushrooming movement for climate justice and a clean energy revolution, and I hope you'll consider joining it for at least one day.
For more information on Climate Emergency Fast for present and future generations see:
U.S. Climate Emergency Council, or http://www.climateemergency.org/
Thanks!
Ted Glick, Coordinator ,- US CLIMATE EMERGENCY COUNCIL
In previous years, activists around the Country joined in solidarity with Ted Glick and fasted for twelve days during October for Leonard’s freedom. The 12 day fasts held for Leonard’s freedom have been happening since 1992. This year as in previous years, Toni Zeidan Co-director for the LPDC will join Ted and others in their Climate Emergency Fast and encourages supporters to do so on Sept 4th and also on Sept 12, 2007, Leonard Peltier’s 63rd birthday. You may want to fast throughout these nine days or even longer, as some such as Ted, are doing. Please let us know your plans. LPDC contact info: info@leonardpeltier.net
Respectfully,
Toni Zeidan
Co-director LPDC
"Develop who you are and remain true to your higher self and your integrity will be an inspiration to others. Show your strengths when necessary, even if it is in being gentle or humble. Do your best to find the good in all people and stand and speak up against wrong doing. Respect the earth where you stand. Many parts of Mother Earth are also held captive behind concrete and steel. Do your best to recognize inspiration from the Creator. Never be too proud to say you were wrong or too fearful to stand up for what you know is right."
